I have a friend in England. He has got an offer in the States. Now he has a question about applying for H1-B visa.
He hasn't had his thesis defense yet. But the job requires a Ph.D degree. So when he applies for H1-B visa, what documents he should prepare regarding the degree certification?
Have you heard any example like this?

He is kind of urgent to come the States, and doesn't want to wait for too long. So he is seeking whether there is any way that he can get H1B without actually having his degree in hand.
well, he can provide transcript and other documents supporting his phd-2-b status. also he needs to tell when his defense will be. it's not uncommon that people find postdoc position and apply for visa before they get the degree.
