OPT期间Medicare和SSN tax

00年f2到美,03年转也f1.现在是opt之间,到底要不要交SSN和 medicare tax呀.

NO, You don't need to pay if you are still holding F1 visa/status.

我现在是在用OPT工作,没有交SSN 和 Medicare tax. 但是我是在02年到美国的.我听说在美国5年后就不能不交这两种税了.说实话我们情况有点差别.帮不上mm,别打我.

好像是要的,只要是在美国呆了5年以上
我bf也是这种情况,F1,CPT也交SSN和medical care,心疼不已

Social security and medicare tax are shown on paycheck as "FICA". It don't matter how long you have stayed in US. As long as you are holding F1 visa, you don't need to pay these two taxes. If they are shown on your paycheck, you'd better talk to the payroll staff at your company.

可能公司和公司不一样吧. Anyway, why not talk this issue with the payroll? Somebady there should know. If yours is a small company, try asking human resourse also or finding the rule in IRS and showing them. Maybe also you can ask some noncitizens in your company.
