I think you can apply H1b and still work on your thesis or dissation if you don't care about OPT. Seems OPT right now is not an option to you. Or you can disscuss with your comapny making some excuse of OPT delay.

u can apply for opt as long as ur f1 status is longer than 9 months.
it's feasible that you work on opt and do your thesis. but if u want opt start late may/early june, u have to send your application soon. otherwise u may not get it on time... just a thought.

没毕业可以申请opt,还有我们学校可以这样办：只要你可以出示公司发的offer,opt的申请可以加快，2周左右可以得到批准。我们特意去学校的international office问过，这是学校和移民局之间的特殊协议。
我今天去问过了，OPT是90days processing,好像没有加快一说。还是只有你们学校可以？
但是CPT很快，one day, then it is done.因为是electronically file to INS.只要CPT不超过12months,毕业时还可以继续申请OPT，一样长，是12个月。就是说，即使你的CPT是11个月零29天，你的OPT仍然是12个月。
我的情况，如果谈的不错，有offer letter 的话，要一两个月上班的话，就是走CPT这条道。。。
不过第一次，往往都是so so.还是不要寄太多希望。等着以后更大的风风雨雨，无尽折磨吧。
我觉得opt申请时间挺长的，没有听说过有加快一说。
CPT不是随时都能办的，一般只能是学期开始，可能各个学校不同？
如果有OFFER LETTER， 申请OPT可以加快， 6周就可以拿到。我刚去学校的ISS问的结果。
