My husband is J1 now. we are not subject to the two years returen home country. I am wondering if we should extend the J visa type.

My husband has funding from other resource, not the university. If he gets salary from the university, then we have to change from J to H, right?

Thanks.

My husband is Canadian and Swiss, so in our form, it's not subject.

oh I c. that's great.

so, here's your steps in my opinion:

1. use ur ead to start work now.

2. april 06, submit application for H1. the new H1 should start oct 1

3. ur ead ends 9/30 , the next day you start your H1.

it sounds perfect.
