Call USCIS, and explain ( very nicely) what happend. You can fax them a copy of your original application and the copy of your new EAD card.

They had my name spelled wrong on my EAD card for my H1B. My lawyer recommended to live with that since the he never received responses from USCIS for silimiar cases for other clients' correction requests. I called USCIS myself and faxed my documents. I receieved my corrected document withinin about 10 days.

I have one more question - which number should I call. Did you called the customer service number on the receipt?

I still wonder how to convince the INS to accept my faxed document. I call them twice this afternoon, and was told to send in the original card. I plan to tell them that one potential employer has detected the problem, and mentioned that I can get the position only if this issue can be resolved by the end of this month. Do you think this could work?

Check with your future employer if they can allow you to start working with your OPT despite the mistake. If they say yes, make a copy of your EAD card and send the original back (fee should be waived due to immigration mistake, also attach a letter asking for expedition). It probably takes as long as your first time. I went through this process since the gender in my card is wrong. My employer didn't care too much about it. Actually the INS officer also told me to consult my employer if they could accept an EAD card with mistake.
