1. I agree with your points totally. Your LG has a very good background, however, the lawyer didn't understand the key of NIW. Now what you need are a few other letters and evidence to emphasize on National Interest and your LG's uniqueness and merits that can't be replaced.

2. I would recommend you to use words/sentences to explicitly stress his contribution to national interest (as attached). And you may also want to say that there are very few people who can do his research in this area or do research with such quality and speed.

3. Get his paper reprints/speech summaries/membership documents to show his achievements and link them to National Interest.

4. Prepare a good petition letter and referenced in the letter how other experts (references) comment your LG's work, his accomplishments and etc. and how important his work is to national interest.

再罗嗦一下，准备supporting material 的时候，多收集点细节，比如发的paper的reviewer's comment, 有你课题内容的杂志封面。不要觉得不足挂齿就忽略，当然，此建议不适用于大牛们。
