H1转J1的问题

LD由于fellowship问题，最近被迫由H1转成J1，眼看H1这月底就到期了，J1申请还没批下来，不知道是不是拿到receipt就可以合法呆在美国，直到申请批准为止？我知道H1申请是这样的，不知道H1转J1是不是一样。哪位大侠知道？我们正焦急中，谢谢
顺便问问大家知不知道这种情况可不可以加急办，可以的话自己交钱都行啊
转身分的时候，只要拿到receipt，都可以合法留在美国等结果。J1加急没听说过。

why lose salary neh? before u got J1, u r still H1 yah. when does ur H1 expire?
LD's H1 will be expiring by the end of April, but his J1 application is still pending. according to the speed they process this kind of application, it would be till maybe June or July that he can receive J1, which means he has 2 or 3 months gap between. Even if he can stay here, he can not get paid since he has no valid visa status

It is not a wise decision to change to J1. You will have J1 waiver when you apply green card. Anyway, once you have receipt, you can legally stay here until you have the decision. If you unfortunately get a denial notice, from the time your H1b expire till you get the receipt will be considered as out of status.
