NEW YORK - Topping the headlines at midday, Hewlett-Packard said it's cutting 14,500 jobs, or about 10% of its workforce, as part of its restructuring.
The cuts, which are expected to save $1.9 billion annually, will mainly come from support functions such as information technology, human resources and finance. The company also plans to overhaul its retirement program. The move comes as HP (nyse: HPQ - news - people ) tries to better compete with its rivals such as Dell (nasdaq: DELL - news - people ).

听说Pfizer今年要cut cost $4 billion. 不知道要从哪里下手了
听说了，HP换了总裁，这个人是以节约成本出名的，大裁员。基本都是美国地区。
但是HP又出15300K美金的年薪从DELL挖来产品经理，这个人以前在WALMART干过22年，也是以节约成本出名的。
看来准备和DELL比节约成本了。
是啊，不然股东不答应。。。
