至于转f2期间能不能再转H1，这个我就不清楚了。

I just through this last summer. Theoretically H-1 to F-2 can take 45 to 90 days, but my case approved in a month. So didn't waste my time at all

All the lawyers I contacted assured me that this case won't need quota to get new H-1, just have to wait for H-1 approved to start work. But HR in my new company insisted I need new quota...and I didn't want to argue with them so I'm not sure whether I wasted a much needed H-1 quota

And all lawyers suggested transfer toF-2 first, instead of try to find a new job, file H-1 transfer and hope the case fall to a nice immigration officer. They always go with the conservative way. But I kinda agree if you have to find a job within short time, then you probably end up with not that great job. But if you can start looking right now, maybe you can have an offer then things will be easy...

One lesson I leared, I should have get an I-20 with my name on it from LG's school as soon as I hear rumors around. As soon as you F-2 application package is out, your status is legal. But I took me a week to get I-20 and file application--- theoretically, that's a gap

Oh, and put some money in your bank account. The school asked for 20 thousand on bank account. They don't think money in mutual fund or stock market is as good as cash

My company will probably lay me off today, the day before Chinese New Year. wuwuwwu, My mom came to the US to visit me for new year and I cannot tell my mom about about the bad news.

I plan to let my company hold my H1B for a few payrolls, don't know if the company is going to agree on this.

You are right that it probably won't end up with a good job in such a short term. Please pray for me.
