house arrest: (from nytimes)
"During house arrest, which Ms. Stewart will serve at her home in Bedford, N.Y., she must wear an electronic monitoring bracelet and limit herself to a 48-hour workweek, including doctors' appointments. She will have another 19 months of probation after that, and must also pay a $30,000 fine."
probation大概就是假释?

also from nytimes
Federal sentencing guidelines recommended a sentence of 10 to 16 months in prison for someone convicted of such crimes who has no previous record of criminal activity and is not considered a threat to society. Judges can add to or reduce a sentence for various reasons, including perceptions of the defendant's acceptance of responsibility.
。。。。。。。。。。。。
Ms. Stewart received the minimum recommended sentence for her conviction on four crimes, all linked to a 2001 stock trade whose timing aroused the interest of government regulators.
................
"Lying to government investigators is a very serious matter," the judge told her. At the same time, she noted that Ms. Stewart, who is 62 years old, has no previous criminal record, and that more than 1,500 letters written on her behalf had made it "apparent that you have helped many people outside your family." She rejected a request from Ms. Stewart's lawyer to let her serve the prison portion of the sentence in a halfway house.
