Check your record and calculate by yourself.

以下是引用summerhole在2007-1-2 13:48:00的发言:
How do you check the annual return rate? I can only check the change % since purchase.

给我普及一下行吗?什末情况要Roth IRA? 什末情况IRA? 我在fidelity上面拼命学习,还是几点不懂的,那位好心扫扫盲?

1。Roth IRA's salary limit, which means you have to earn $99,000/year and then you can open the Roth IRA account , is that true ?  Does that mean this account is only open to those high income people ?

2.还有他说,tax-free withdraw , what's the difference with traditional IRA then ?  does that mean I can withdraw it anytime with no penalty ?   then why it is specified that only like first time house buyer, education , etc, ? I m confused by that.

3. Roth IRA  still have to pay tax anyway,  so what's the benefit for this ?

to your first question. you can open roth iRA only if your income is lower than 99k, not higher than 99k. if you are married, i believe this limit is around 160k.

THis has been a good year for the stock market.  S&P 13% return, Dow 15% return. You should expect your portfolio return very close to the market return at least, if not more than that. If it is only 8%, you might wanna investigate your portfolio and adjust your asset allocation and investment style to fit your long-term goal, or it might be that some fund itself is poorly managed. One simple way is to use morning star, which has a lot of basic knowledge you wanna know before you build up retirement portfolio. For those who are lazy to do the research, index fund may be a good choice. Again, I find morning star , fidelity all have very good educational articles. Doing your homework is the key..
