Ohio:Our filing status to be consistent with your federal tax filing status.
NC:We may file a joint State return. We also have the option of filing your State return as married filing separately.
resident)
(1 resident
+1 non-resident)
sixer, I guess it depends on the difference between your incomes.
if your incomes have big differences, you might save you some if you file jointly. if your incomes are similar, no big different at federal level.

I got your msg but my mail box is about to exceed its limit.
if you are nonresident filed as resident, I think you should be able to get the rebate.
however, this is a one-time shot and nobody has a reality check yet, I guess it is just a personal opinion.
we are also filing an H-1 and an F1. We did federal jointly and here we can do state either married jointly or separately, they even have an option called married filing separately on combined return. We are wondering because for federal, we filed as resident, can we file state both as resident or the F1 has to file as non-resident?
Thanks a lot!!!
