我是H1，去年给别的公司干了点活，有些额外的收入，收到那个公司了1099表，今年报联邦税也报了。可是昨天收到IRS的信，说我少交了self-employment tax，请问我这种情况是self-employment吗？我以为self-employment是针对自己开公司的人而言的。谢谢！

You got 1099 since you were treated as "independent contractor" who provided $600 or more of services to the business. However, based on your description, I dont think you are self-employed. Give IRS a call to find out a way to solve the issue.

既然是1099，你这样是算sole proprietorship，那应该就是self-employment吧。还是应该交self employment tax的。你填schedule c的时候，好像instruction上也说了吧？
