那部分钱一部分是到social security里了,将来退休的时候可以拿(当然数目不是很高)。Here is the limit for 2006 for FICA and Medicare:
Medicare: unlimited
Social Security: $94,200
So the total tax rate is 7.65%, which combined with Medicare and Social Security. The Social Security portion (OASDI) is 6.20% on earnings up to the applicable taxable maximum amount ($94,200). The Medicare portion (HI) is 1.45% on all earnings.
多谢达人指点,就怕等我们养老的时候SS整个系统都倒闭了,不是说2032年就要倒闭了。政府还是劝大家自己做好养老的准备吗,

You are absolutely right. According to the statement I got lately, and I quote
"Unless action is taken soon to strengthen Social Security, in just 11 years we will begin paying more in benefits than we collect in taxes. Without changes, by 2040 the Social Security Trust Fund will be exhausted."
How scary is that. Social Security was actually never intended to be the only source of income when we retire. It cannot do it all. That's why we need other savings, investments, pensions or retirement accounts (401K, etc) to make sure there will be enuf money to live comfortable when we retire.
