我2002年8月来美,没换过身份
本来认为今年可以以resident身份报税,但是看了这里喝mitbbs的精华区,越来越糊涂了
不知道谁可以帮我澄清一下

今年给寄来的税表却是1040-A(不知道是不是就是给residents的),这个residents和non-residents之
间到底有啥区别啊?另外,我就算是residens,也是从9月才开始的,这个该咋办呢?难道填写两分税表?

拿到H1B以后就是residents了(05年看你是什么时候拿到的h1b, 如果开始的晚,可以用first year choice,全年都算residents)。五年变residents是说一直是学生的情况,有的专业要五年以上完成,或换了program继续读书的,第六年开始就算residents了。
每年都只填一份税表。
你快去填1040x把2005年的报税改回来,应该会多退回一些钱的。三年之内都可以改。
06年就一定是residents乐。看你报税的复杂情况,填某份最适合你的1040的表格(就象是做学生时也有1040nr ,1040nr-ez 之分)。
