it has nothing to do with tax.

if you bring that money from china, you don't need to report it;

if you earn it in US, it is considered as income and is taxed, but you still don't need to think about it when you make the CD

cd存进去的时候那钱就是收了税的呀，跟401k完全不同的。

哎，其实这跟国内的定期存款不是一样的么，税是从工资里扣的，

你拿税后前去存银行，最后到期取了本金和利息，其中利息还要再交税。

only the interest you receive from CD is taxable. your principle will not be double taxed( it's already taxed). if the money you brought from China, and you are not a US citizen, I don't think you need to report that income from interest.
