I saw this news from Mitbbs.  Now if you are new customer of Chase and apply Freedom credit card, you will get $250 after first purchase.  When you log on Chase.com home page, you will see

If you cannot see this image, you have to clear your computer cookies first, then you will see it. Sometimes you will see $50 bonus, Don't click that one.

I'm not sure the definition of "new customer". Someone said "No chase credit card before", and some "No freedom credit card should be Ok." You can find more information in MITBBS and Fatwallet.
