it depends how your LG select the stock and what is his investment goal...If he is a value player, sort of like Warrent Buffet style, he follows "buy and hold" strategy..generally for a company with very good fundamentals and stable growth record (of course other important criteria fit), it would be nice to hold for long time. Trading too often in stocks and intention to time the market can cost a lot in terms of commission and lost opportunities.  

考虑时间成本和机会成本吧
buffet能hold几十年，所以不用考虑ups and downs,你能嘛
即使能，还有很多回报更快更好的股票。buffet不玩high growth的股票，这个是适合他的投资理念，未必合适每个人
股市多做多错，少做少错，不做不错，8过收益和风险成正比，交易多频繁看个人的风险承受能力了
