If you have credit cards that you do not use for a long time, read on:

A number of credit card companies are starting to automatically cancel your credit card if you do not use them in the past 1 year or 2 years, including (which I know) Chase, WaMu, Provident, and cards that are issued by them.

This may affect your credit score a lot in short time if the card happens to be your first card! (I said "a lot" because normally if this applies to you, I guess it is likely you will have more than 1 such cards).

So take them out and use them once a while (did I just provide another reason to 腐败? ).



Edit and add: as far as I can estimate: it will lower 20-30 points per card (there is no exact number, just my guess), but after maybe 6 months, the score will go back. But this record will be on file for a few years (I think is 5 years?). Again, just my estimate, maybe someone can correct me.

I think I said that in the post: it may lower your credit score, which will be useful if you want to apply for a loan. I estimate it will lower 20-30 points per card (there is no exact number, just my guess).
