US is a strange place for all these finance related businesses. If you buy directly, you may get the same or higher price, than buying using an agent.

This is true for many things, including your cell phone plan -- say, if you buy phone online at other stores (such as amazon.com), it is cheaper than if you walk into the store to buy it.

All the business model is that: agent (or 3-rd party vendors) is considered to help attract new customers, so they have lower price (even if you are not really new customers). Existing customers normally will pay more.
