when we were negotiating the house price, the seller's agent told our agent that someone else is also ready to make an offer;
now that we had the house inspected, and will come up with a list of items for the seller to repair. the seller's agent told our agent that she has a back-up offer, if our offer doesn't work out, she will use that back-up offer...
not sure if she is bluffing or not, but feel uncomfortable and feel like manipulated or sth.![]()

It could be strategy. when we bid the first time, we were told they had another offer and it's higher than ours. later they said it didn't work out.

gee, have your own price, it goes over, dont buy, so that u wont regret. Have ur agent give u a list of the house which is sold within or past month in your area, so that you know the deal.
ps: since it is the school season, good district housing maybe raising again, sigh but true

we had the same situation, (i.e. the seller agent consistently mentioned there were back-up offers available) however, we stick on our offering price and finally got the house. This might be the seller's stratege to get as higher price as possible. It may work or may not, depending on how eager you want this house. Good luck!

要求对方找个certified technician周一gas on时给检查一遍furnace什么的at seller's expense而且提供检查的收据,却给告知seller自己检查过了，没问题，提供不了receipt...还来一句，他们都准备好back-up contract了...真是不痛快。

the seller agreed with all our repair requests. it's so obvious the seller's agent was bluffing...not 100% happy with this house, but it's just time to make a buying decision. Feel real tired of this whole house hunting thing...
if I could have gone through this whole process again, definitely, the faster/shorter the better.
