If you are in US, grasp every opportunity to talk with people. However, in your case, you might have to work really hard in the vocabulary since it is the building block.

Yep, once I interviewed a Chinese girl, her English is almost authentic and had minimum accent, but she said she came here when she was 24. So I asked her how did she speak better than many Chinese who came even earlier than her.

she said she barely spoke any English prior to moving to the U.S. but she has been dating American guys all along.

in my opion,maybe you need to choos some books to read,and the book don't have so many words which you don't know,after several months,you will find that you have made progress.

if you just want to remember vocabulary,you still don't know how to use it,and also you don't know how to talk with other person.
