一份工作的工资多少都是有原因的，工资高的要么有特殊的特长技能，要么工作时间长，要么工作环境不好，要么会接除有害健康的物质，要么责任重大，等等，总之不会是无猿无故的，资本家都是贼坏贼坏的。。。

architects are the most underpaid IMHO. I truly respect them.
I agree with you actually, I just use that as an example to show that more working hrs doesn't necessary lead to higher pay....
And by the way, bus drivers can actually earn more than a entry level faculty if they work more than 12 hrs.
Busboys or busgirls or S.A. , increasingly referred to as bussers, work in the restaurant and catering industry clearing dirty dishes, taking the dirty dishes to the dishwasher, setting tables, and otherwise assisting the waiting staff.

I won't go to the details, but Fuld is much responsible for the whole mess. he is too emotionally attached. Too much ego here. Erin Callan and Joseph Gregory were ousted and then many others were demoted on the senior level. now what?
After Bear, there wasn't anybody willing to or able to take LEH's risk on its books. For one thing, LEH's $32bn commercial mortgages are mostly in the US and Europe. The credit risk for those loans can't be hedged due to idiosyncrocy. Lehman is good at what it does. And I don't know who else can manage such a portfolio better than LEH does. If holding to maturity, their Commercial loans will eventually make a good payoff. But they are forced to put on not-so-effective hedges and mark to market. Also their holdings are too large compared to their size.
I like the idea of spinning of their CRE holdings but it was too late.

just a thought, if CIC buys the commercial mortgage portfolio at a discount, since they don't need to mark to market, assuming they can hire the lehman team to manage it, then they are going to make a great strategic transaction. they can even hire the LEH real estate team...one of the finest in this world. 50 cents on the dollar anybody?
stay away from the Alt-A though. leave that to BlackRock.
If they can sell asset management+CRE but keep the IBD, maybe they can survive?
