有优秀的残疾人公众人物，演说活动什么的，为了鼓励那些有残疾，自卑，不知所措，甚至想要自杀的残疾人。让他们有个可以精神寄托的榜样啊。 Gay也一样啊。自己很struggle。也会不知所措，抑郁。Cook自己的声明里也说了，他这么做也是为了能帮到那些还在struggle的人。你不是gay，不是残疾人，体会不到他们作为minority有多么辛苦。但是你作为asian在美国社会总能体会做asian的辛苦吧。你难道不希望有powerful的asian出来为asian群体的利益说话么。proud to be asian？

同觉得奇怪，为啥同性恋就proud了，想要别人正常看待，自己也得摆正心态吧，有啥好自豪的

Being gay has given me a deeper understanding of what it means to be in the minority and provided a window into the challenges that people in other minority groups deal with every day. It’s made me more empathetic, which has led to a richer life. It’s been tough and uncomfortable at times, but it has given me the confidence to be myself, to follow my own path, and to rise above adversity and bigotry. It’s also given me the skin of a rhinoceros, which comes in handy when you’re the CEO of Apple. 觉得他说的empathetic还挺好的，不知道是不是真是这样的人。

someone in this forum are quite disgusting.. why can't people be proud of what they are?
I am glad Tim Cook is brave enough to come out of closet and be proud of what he is.

If a person can say he is proud of being a Chinese or American, then definitely a person can be proud of being gay.
Being proud is not saying being gay is better than being straight. Being proud is to face the truth and accept what he/she actually is.

I respect any people who is proud of himself/herself.
