On Nov. 11, he saw his wife running with their child and another object in her arms. She ran to the bathroom and shut the door, the Salt Lake County District Attorney''s office said.

He tried to talk to her through the bathroom door but when she did not respond, he broke down the door.

The SLCDA''s office said he found her kneeling in the bathtub with a plugged-in toaster, placing the infant into the water.

The husband "quickly grabbed the toaster and pried their three-month-old infant from [her] arms," the SLCDA''s office said.

Police talked to the woman, who reportedly told them she believed her family would be "tortured and killed" if the murder-suicide did not take place.

She told police that before going to the bathroom, she was sitting on a couch with her baby. Her head then told her, "You have to do this. It''s now or never," the SLCDA''s office said.
