$500 for a molar root canal is really a good price. But I recommend you to find an endo specialist for this one unless this dentist has really good experience for 2nd molar RCT. You can ask this dentist to refer you a specialist and come back to him for the crown. After the RCT, the core build-up should be finished ASAP (within 1-3 months). But since the third molar was just being extracted, I suggest to wait at least 2 months after the extraction to have the crown done because the gum level will change following the resorption of the bone after extraction and this is essential to determine the place of the crown margin at that side.
