statement date is different from due date.

Statement date is the day the card company closes a statement and opens a new statement.

Due date is the day you have to pay off your due amount appearing in your last statement to avoid any charge.

You don't need to pay off your balance on the statement date. You leave your balance in your account until a few days before the due date.
