the first step is the hardest as u have no experience and a gap on your resume, but it doesn't mean there's no hope.
I would recommend you to do volunteer work, not the ones handing out food, but the ones that need computer skills. Once you do it for a few months, you will gain experience -> employers dare to hire you, coz typically they don't want to training an employee from the beginning if they feel they can hire one with experience from the market.
Moreover, you can fill in the gap using this volunteer experience. It's really understandable in this country that a young mom stays home to have kid and do volunteer work now and then.
Finally, if you do well volunteer work and non-profit org likes you, they may: 1. offer you a job(many non-profit pays well) 2. be your reference for ur job hunting.
Good luck,
there're a few different ways:
1. check out the big non-profit orgs website, redcross etc. They have volunteer positions nationwide
http://www.redcross.org/services/volunteer/0,1082,0_325_,00.html
2. Local paper, read in classified.
3. Church. Even u r not into religion, u can join them for charity activies...
