He is very likely to have OSA, what we call obstructive sleep apnea. It is usually diagnosed with one night sleep at a sleep clinic, monitoring his breathing pattern and blood oxygen level, etc. If he stops breathing at some points, he has OSA.

Treatment is a device, called C-pap, it is a mask patient puts on at night, which is connected to an O2 tank and ensures a positive pressure in the airway and thus its patency.
