I guess this movie, just like "Hero", is not meant for Chinese audience, but for international viewers.

It is just a movie meant for "export".

Maybe the success of "crouching tiger, hidden dragon" makes Zhang realize this type of movie can really sell!
There is no need of a good script, no need to make sense, but only need,
1. plenty of KongFu,
2. a love story,
3. beatuiful scenery, focus on BAMBOO forest! as they are considered to be exotic and unusual.
and therefore BAMBOO fighting (not sure whether people are already sick of this).
4. oversimpified historical events so that it won't be too changlendging for simple-minded foreign audience.
