I would say it is possible the manager you meet might feel natural for him to do so. I have met such ppl before. They keep watching over you for what you are doing, though sometimes they are neither bad nor doubt your ability, they are still very annoying. My previous direct boss was like that, my productivities decreased a lot due to his continuous bugging everyday and I felt very depressed too. I fought with him several times by asking him to just arrange one or two meetings everyday instead of every half hour's visiting to my desk. But it didn't work out, those ppl were born like that. Anyway he left company before I gave up, so I am much happy now. I really suggest that if you can't put up with such ppl, leaving might be a better choice.
