mm这个问题问得好，我自己也想了很久。不知道文科方面怎么样，但是就我自己的专业来说，的确很大一部分时间是需要自己一个人在小屋里面做实验什么的，一天到晚就没几个人，就算当了faculty,跟别人交流的无非也就是专业方面的新进展。我其实一点都不喜欢这个专业，当年选专业的时候什么都不懂，完全是听从老师的建议，然后一晃就这么多年了.....


Social science is a good major for people who likes the topics in human, but the return of these major are not high.
I will say, it's enough to make a living, but it can never compete with other high return majors, such as finance, computer, etc.
So if you really want to dedicate yourself to sth. you like or have passion for, instead of money,
going for social science may be not a bad idea for you.

One major I will recommend and acutually it's also a very close field to my major, is Instructional Design.
It's a major offered in the school of Education and it focuses on designing and developing educational materials,
which can be a book, a CD-ROM, a website, or even curriculum systems in higher Ed. or in corporations
Many schools offer this major.
With a master degree, I won't say it's easy to land a job, but there are opportunities.
