The house we built was little bit over 2200sf, I think it is enough for us. Actually we were looking into houses from 1700-2000 before, but end up we like the floorplan better. Even now, I still think around 2000sf is a nice size for a family of two. And the furnitures and decorations do cost a lot! Especially if you want good ones.
