You can go to usics.gov to check your case status. If your OPT have been approved, you cannot work legally. However, as long as your employer won't list you at any payroll or pay check, it is ok. That means your boss cannot pay you by check before your OPT starts. You can work. You might negotiate with your boss to pay you by cash or reimburse you as bonus later.
