The most important thing is how long your good credit history is. It takes time and there isnt much you can do about it.

What you can do are
1) to make your utilization ratio low. That is, keeping your balance low relative to your credit limit for each credit card you have, NOT the total, but each of your card.

2) never be late paying your monthly dues. delinquency stays on your credit report for a long time
