如果是cash transaction, 就要手工输入，如果是credit card, bank transaction, 一般都可以download 到 quicken 或者money 里面，尤其是credit card, 节省时间.

quicken里面还可以设automatic payment 或者工资，我想money 里面应该也有。

money 我没有用过，不过我觉得应该是一样的。

quicken里面可以设置自动链接，也可以手动，

步骤大概是这样：

1. 前提是quicken 里面设好账户， credit card 有online access

2. 用web browser, log on credit card, 一般在statement page都会有类似的图标(这个是citibank credit card的），自动的点quicken, 手动的用QIF format

3. 把文件存下来以后,打开quicken, 然后选file import, 选相应的account 和刚存的文件，然后import就可以了。不好意思，我的quicken没有装载我的laptop里面，不能弄个图乐

自动得好象以后每次会自动提醒下载，anyway, 我现在的chase credit card就是这样，我也记不清是什么时候,怎么样弄得了。 手动的，每个月，或者每几个月存一下QIF file, 然后import. download的时候要注意日期，否则会把同一个月down 好几遍。我比较懒，一般2个月down 一次。也不能太懒，否则网上一般只提供最近2-3个月的download.

4. 存好了以后，把每一个transaction改一下catagory, 第一次改好了，quicken 一般都能记住，以后同一家店就会用相应的catagory，比如说albersons 就会归到food:grocery.

fidelity 也提供401K transaction 德download,大致相同。

I have been using Money for about 7 years. I see the software as a useful tool for bookkeeping and monthly spending analysis. I don't really use the online functions that are available. I enter all credit card and banking transactions in Money, so at anytime, I know exactly how much the outstanding credit card balance is (also compare with credit card online details or statements for any discrepancies) and how much funds is available in checking.

One thing that I really like about Money -

Report Gallery that generates all kind of meaningful personal financials for you. The common ones I use:

(1)Monthly budget vs. actual

我刚试了一下,SET UP WIZARD IS really helpful. just follow it should get you there.

when you connect your accounts w/ internet, there will be 3 kinds of answers:

1, ask for username/password

eg, AE, it connected right away, updated right away

2, ask ssn/password(4 digit)

that is not the password u set up online w/ the username to pay online or whatever. i guess it is the system setting at the bank end. not sure about the sequrity, did not even try.

3, most banks will just say, you can download from the web

i kind of hate the 3 choice, it is not like someone mentioned in a former post that you do not need to go through all those credit cards websites. actually you do need to go there to download. what is the benefit? well, the good thing is, downloading is easy and data are built into the file immidiately, most of the case, do not even need to save as a seperate file and import. when you hit downloan, the data will directly go to the file.

i do have several questions

1, for setting up the account, eg, car loan monthly charge. do you set it up as a bill account or you do not set it if you use credit card to pay it? since it will be shown in the credit card payment, i am afraid there will be 2 items of spending which actually should be the same thing and then affect the calculation.

2, for each item in the statement, there is a choice to accept the charge or not. what does that mean? for despute?

3, when set up the accounts, it asked about the amount u owe and next due date. will it remind you as this date or this date will be overwrite w/ the new due date on the statement? the later one makes more sense

4, the passport file. anyone use that? how come it is the same username and password? i highly doubt about the security issue. jeez, same username/password as msn?? am i misunderstanding sth?

too late, did not get too much time to explore. hope can get some answers here. red are my questions
