You might want to use the ovulation test kit to help. I used 'First Response Easy-Read Ovulation Test'. It can help you pinpoint your most fertile days. The cheapest ovulation test (7 tests) I could find is from Target. It costs around $18.

If you could pinpoint the ovulation and you guys still could not make it over a year, you might want to get your hubby checked first. The sperm count test is very easy/cheap (around $100) and some insurance might cover it.
