Yes (ps, it is only for purchases, not for cash advance, not for checks).
Usually, you can do this: use this card for purchase, only pay minimal payment (or some more than that) each month, until the specified date. BE SURE TO pay ALL the balance off before that date.
As to credit history, carrying a balance has little affect, AS LONG AS the balance is (as a general rule) less than 30% of the card's credit limit.
Warning: be SURE to pay on time. If you miss one payment, usually the interests will be calculated from the FIRST DAY when the card has balance on it (in your case, it will be the first time you use this card after you get this card). It is NOT from the most recent missed payment day. And if you miss one payment, your 0% APY may immediately expires, and your card will have the normal APY immediately.
