Interestingly, my husband tried all kind of things for acid reflux before including H2 blockers and most of the proton pump inhibitors, nothing really helped. Finally he tried fisherman's friend, and ever since then he haven't had much reflux any more.

For some patients, the acid reflux is not caused by over production of stomach acid, but by esophageal spasm, which is my husband's case. Menthol somehow decreased his esophageal spasm, and therefore helped his acid reflux symptoms.
