I am a H4 without SSN and my cpa applied the ITIN for me last month, she also told me my family  had to file the paper tax return form for I had no SSN and ITIN for  tax year 2007.  She prepared all the documents and I sent them by USPS.

When your wife gets the ITIN or ssn ,then you can submit the tax return electronically.
