Yes. put it in this way.

If your card opens in april,2008, then you should contact your bank in march,2009.

Ask them to change your card into unsecured to wiave another upcoming annual fee.

Remember to tell them that you want to maintain the same card number.

If you don't keep the same card number, you will lose the prior one year's credit history.

   Since lz had paid the annual fee, you could keep the card untill next annual fee is coming.

   This is lz's first credit card, i would suggest lz not apply for another new card too soon.

   6 months later, it would be a proper timing to do so.
