saving bond , APY 6.73%, no state tax, interest compounded every 6 month.
CD, 6 months APY 4.4% interest compounded every 1 month.
which is better for short term?
If you compare these two on a 6 months base, the yeild rate for your
saving bond is 3.31% while CD is 2.176%. So from the rate, saving bond
is better. I believe you need to pay tax on your CD interest. The only
concern is you need to invest up to a certain amount for your saving
bonds. So if you have enough fund, I would suggest saving bond.

楼主列举的CD利息很高啊！能不能透露一下是哪家银行啊？
return 肯定是saving bond高， 而且你说的这个I-bond的利率会跟着通货膨胀调整， 不过saving bond 一年之内是不能兑现的， 5年之内要罚3个月利息。 所以还要看你近期内要不要用这笔钱。 再说saving bond 一年只能买 30k, 要是钱多的话， 还是要去买cd.
