Finally got my rebate check back!

My LG purchased a DVD-burner during Thanksgiving sale last year, with $30 + $30 rebates. One $30, directly coming from Circuitcity, arrived after one month of rebate submission. The other $30 was sent to a manufacturer's rebate processing center, which I have never heard of before. I kept checking the rebate status and ended up with nothing. And four months later, I finally decided to bug the customer service rep frequently to make the ball rolling. The rep confirmed that they had never received anything rebate claim from us, and asked me to re-submit all necessary documents for verification.

Very few people would keep all UPC code, original receipt and rebate form after they send away the documents. That is why rebate is always a risky thing for many people and a lucrative way for manufacturers to save high dollars. Fortunately, my LG has copied all required documents and kept in a folder, as we don't trust that processing center. I faxed over the stuff to the specified number and today, just before I got ready to take off, I saw the confirmed status of the rebate check. Now there is one more reason to enjoy the weekend!

Lesson learned: keep a copy of all your rebate documents, if you have a rebate to expect. That saves you loads of hassle when you would argue a rebate back.

Happy weekend!

Thanks for sharing your experience with us. I cannot help writing something about the recent incident after reading your story. It happened two days ago when I got the mail from the mailbox. There, I found a small fold-up envelope with a name typed definitely not mine. It is a mail-in rebate check from MicroCenter (I can even see the dollar amount). Yet the street address number is so close to the my home address, it's not near enough that I could possibly drop it in their mailbox. Next day, I gave it to the clerk at the Post Office and was told they will make another delivery.

I had experience of never got the mail-in rebate checks in the past. I believe they were either lost in the mail or misplaced with mails from other people.

It's such a nice thing that LZ got the check finally. Any stories relate to the mail-in rebate checks are welcomed to be posted here.
