去年我和老公带着孩子回国呆了一段时间。后来临时有事，我们回了美国，把孩子单独留在国内和外公外婆呆了几个月。孩子在国内的开支全部是我们负担。去年全年孩子在美国和我们呆的时间只有5个半月，我用turbo tax填信息的时候，turbo tax按照我给的以上信息，自动把孩子算成了我的dependent， 但是昨天和朋友说起这件事，朋友说我孩子这种情况是不能算dependent。现在马上要报税了，纠结这种情况，能不能把孩子算作dependent。 我知道一般都是说孩子必须和父母住在一起半年以上才能算qualified child. 但是我可以把孩子按照qualified relative的标准算作dependent来报税吗？ 这是我在IRS的网站上找到的依据，但是不知道我的理解是否正确： “Relatives who don't have to live with you.A person related to you in any of the following ways doesn't have to live with you all year as a member of your household to meet this test.

Your child, stepchild, foster child, or a descendant of any of them (for example, your grandchild). (A legally adopted child is considered your child.)”
