各位高手,有谁清楚"夫妻合报"MFJ 和"单独报税"MFS 的区别?
我所知道的是,无论合报还是分开报,夫妇双方所deduct的exp 和可claim的credit都没有区别,那么为什么有两种报税形式呢
当然有区别
比如 如果income是 同样的 有可能税率不一样 MFJ通常低于MFS
还有MFS 不能获得有些 CREDIT
MFS 双方必须使用一样的deduction 一方用standard deduction 另一方也必须用
Phase out 也会不一样

I personally think that the difference between your two incomes is the major determinant.
if there is huge difference between the two incomes, filing jointly may benefits since it reduces the higher income's tax bracket.
if your incomes are similar, not that much different.
In some states with progressive tax rates, married filing jointly might lead to higher taxes on state level.

看起来MFJ比MFS要划算,为什么还有人要MFS?
