i'm planning to drive my car (1990 camry, 109K miles, i'm the second owner) for a long distance travel, so I brought the car to a mechanic for a check. He changed the battery and a front bulb, and charged $109, including about 15-20 dollars of labor. i don't mind the labor fee, but now I kind of regret the battery that was put in there. I know the battery needs to be replaced, but if I go to an auto parts store and buy a battery myself, it's probably only 50 dollars. But the mechanic said those batteries are not good, and he ordered a new "inter-state" brand battery, which costs 75 dollars. This brand of battery is good, I know, and can last for 75 months. But since my car is so old, I'm not sure if I'll use it for 75 months. Maybe i'll just use it for half that long. Should I have used another kind of battery to replace my old one?
