I would consider paying by myself first. No matter what, it is my personal issue. And 8000 may seem
a lot at the first sight, but it is just a couple of months's salary and you have plenty of years
ahead to work...

You can surely let him know anyway and see how things go. But immgration is kinda a sensitive issue
and I would feel a little uncomforatble in either your or his position. I know this one guy and he
is married to an Australian girl. I didn't know him before so I was surprised that he got married
when he was only 24. He is an American and 24 is a little early for a guy to get married in this
country. Anyway, I asked one of his friends, and he told me they got married early because of the
green card issue of that girl. If I were that girl, I wouldn't like people to say that my marriage
was something I got on my way for something else. And I also have this girl friend in Shanghai.
She bought an apartment with her BF (now her LG) before they registered. They could have saved
a bunch of money if they got registered before they signed the contract, but they didn't, because they didn't really feel it was the time yet, although the apartment was for their
marriage... Their case is a little funny, but just say sometimes you have to wait for the right time no matter what,
especially for a marriage...
