Resume Writing Tips
· Do not use an objective
· Use bullet form, not paragraph
· Don’t forget computer skills
· Note specific accomplishments that identify you uniquely from your peers
· Make use of Power/Action words as much as possible
· Use simple term rather than complex expressions that say the same thing
· Use quantities, amounts, dollar values where then enhance the description of that you did (“increased sales by $1000,000 per year”)
· Put strongest statements at the top, working downward from them
· Have someone with good English skills check for spelling, punctuation and grammar
· Do not us “i”. It is implied throughout
· Do not include hobbies or a vocational or social interests unless they clearly contribute to your work ability for your current job target
· Avoid self-serving evaluations
· Do choose a job that you love
· Do spend time listing all your good qualities. This is where you get credit where credit’s due
· Do research the position and organization before the interview
· Don’t forget to include your grade point average

· Your education background always goes at the end of the resume unless you are a recent graduate and your degree is stronger than your experience, or you are applying for a position at an education institution
