ha, i did kao gu and i read that post. i think it did not answer most of my questions because i think all she is doing is manually putting in data. my question for her is "how much time she spent?"

and I did google Microsoft Money. no good tutorial either.

all i want to know at this moment is "is that really worthy to try it out ? what the software can do and how much effor and money it envolves?" I checked on mitbbs and here, seems most people use it as a book keeper, some use it to pay bills. what is the benefit you can get out of it? is that only good for people with a lot of accounts or even stocks?

be honest, i never saved the credit card statement and i never paid much attention to it so i was surprised to see people see weird charges on the cards. if use Money, will the software itself "see" those for you?

我刚试了一下,SET UP WIZARD IS really helpful. just follow it should get you there.

when you connect your accounts w/ internet, there will be 3 kinds of answers:

1, ask for username/password

eg, AE, it connected right away, updated right away

2, ask ssn/password(4 digit)

that is not the password u set up online w/ the username to pay online or whatever. i guess it is the system setting at the bank end. not sure about the sequrity, did not even try.

3, most banks will just say, you can download from the web

i kind of hate the 3 choice, it is not like someone mentioned in a former post that you do not need to go through all those credit cards websites. actually you do need to go there to download. what is the benefit? well, the good thing is, downloading is easy and data are built into the file immidiately, most of the case, do not even need to save as a seperate file and import. when you hit downloan, the data will directly go to the file.

i do have several questions

1, for setting up the account, eg, car loan monthly charge. do you set it up as a bill account or you do not set it if you use credit card to pay it? since it will be shown in the credit card payment, i am afraid there will be 2 items of spending which actually should be the same thing and then affect the calculation.

2, for each item in the statement, there is a choice to accept the charge or not. what does that mean? for despute?

3, when set up the accounts, it asked about the amount u owe and next due date. will it remind you as this date or this date will be overwrite w/ the new due date on the statement? the later one makes more sense

4, the passport file. anyone use that? how come it is the same username and password? i highly doubt about the security issue. jeez, same username/password as msn?? am i misunderstanding sth?

too late, did not get too much time to explore. hope can get some answers here. red are my questions
