I personally think that the difference between your two incomes is the major determinant.

if there is huge difference between the two incomes, filing jointly may benefits since it reduces the higher income's tax bracket.

if your incomes are similar, not that much different.

In some states with progressive tax rates, married filing jointly might lead to higher taxes on state level.

高手高手,佩服佩服。只对以上这条有些疑问。若MFJ,夫妻双方也必须用同一种deduction吧?

看起来MFJ比MFS要划算,为什么还有人要MFS?
